Piyush Goyal: “India and Canada Reaffirm Commitment to Expedite CEPA Negotiations”

Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal said India and Canada are working to expedite negotiations on the proposed India-Canada Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), with both sides reaffirming their commitment to an early conclusion of the pact.

Goyal shared details of his meeting with Maninder Sidhu, Canada’s Minister of International Trade, on social media. The discussions focused on advancing negotiations for the bilateral trade agreement.

According to Goyal, both sides reiterated their leadership’s commitment to accelerating the CEPA negotiations and concluding the agreement at the earliest. The proposed partnership is expected to create new opportunities across trade in goods, services and investment, among other areas.

The Union Minister expressed confidence that an early conclusion of the India-Canada CEPA would contribute to the shared objective of significantly expanding bilateral trade and strengthening the economic partnership between the two countries.

The renewed focus on the trade pact comes as India and Canada seek to deepen economic engagement and create greater opportunities for businesses and investors in both markets.
