KT- India Exports August 2026

India Exports August 2026 recorded strong growth, rising 26.12 per cent to USD 43.81 billion, according to government data released on Tuesday. At the same time, the country's trade deficit narrowed to USD 26.86 billion during the month.

The latest figures indicate continued positive momentum in India's external trade, with strong demand reported across several key sectors.

Commerce Secretary Rajesh Agarwal said sectors including engineering, petroleum products, chemicals and textiles contributed to the positive export performance.

India's imports also increased during August, rising by around 14.1 per cent to USD 70.76 billion.

India Exports August 2026 Show Strong Growth

India Exports August 2026 figures show a significant year-on-year increase in merchandise exports. Exports rose 26.12 per cent during the month to reach USD 43.81 billion.

The growth comes amid continued global economic uncertainties and changing trade conditions.

According to Commerce Secretary Rajesh Agarwal, India's exports are maintaining positive momentum, supported by demand across several important sectors.

Engineering goods, petroleum products, chemicals and textiles were among the sectors contributing to the export performance.

Exports Rise Across Key Sectors

The latest trade data points to broad-based support from multiple sectors of the Indian economy.

Engineering products remain an important component of India's export basket, while petroleum products, chemicals and textiles are also significant contributors to India's international trade.

The performance of these sectors has helped sustain the upward momentum in exports during the current financial year.

India's Trade Deficit Narrows to USD 26.86 Billion
Along with the rise in exports, India's trade deficit narrowed to USD 26.86 billion in August.

A trade deficit occurs when the value of a country's imports is higher than the value of its exports. India's August figures show that although imports continued to exceed exports, the gap between the two narrowed during the month.

The narrowing trade deficit provides another important element of the latest India Exports August 2026 data.

Imports Rise 14.1 Per Cent

India's imports increased by approximately 14.1 percent in August to USD 70.76 billion.

While imports continued to grow, their rate of increase was lower than the growth rate recorded by exports during the month.
