Sophisticated, glamorous, and very Indian. That’s the vibe the 3 nominees of the 51st International Emmy
Awards from India exuded at the opening cocktail night in New York. Shefali Shah, Jim Sarbh, and Vir Das
posed in style for the paparazzi in ensembles by Indian designers.
Shefali Shah is a nominee for Best Performance by an Actress for her role in ‘Delhi Crime Season 2’ while
Jim Sarbh has been nominated for Best Performance by an Actor for his role in ‘Rocket Boys’. Vir Das has
been recognized for ‘Vir Das: Landing’, his Netflix comedy special.
Shah was sartorial elegance in a classy JJ Valaya sequinned ensemble with the designer’s signature
chevron leaf pattern. An exquisite full-length gown with a long jacket, her attire radiated Indian
craftsmanship in contemporary notes. Jim Sarbh was in a striking black Rahul Mishra jacket with floral
embroidery. Paired with a solid black tee and black pants, he was dramatic sophistication. Vir Das nailed
his look in a traditional kurta and self-coloured pants adding on a blue richly embroidered jacket. The
nominees came together showcasing the richness of Indian heritage, style, and craftsmanship in a
modern sensibility.
Anticipation is building fast for the Emmy Awards scheduled for November 20 in New York City. The
Indian nominees reflect India’s talent on a global platform enabling an international audience to delve
deeper into the Indian creative (entertainment) pool.
Like its previous years, the extravagant event promises to celebrate outstanding performances from
across the world. This year, it is also set to honor producer Ekta Kapoor with the prestigious
International Emmy Directorate Award.
