Jay Shah Inaugurates Tanzania's First ICC-Approved Cricket Arena

ICC Chairman Jay Shah officially inaugurated the Tanzania Cricket Arena on Sunday, marking a historic milestone for cricket in Tanzania and across Africa. The venue is the country's first ICC-approved cricket arena built to international standards and represents a significant step forward in the region's sporting infrastructure.

Construction of the state-of-the-art facility began in 2025 and was completed in July 2026 through a collaborative effort between the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the Tanzania Cricket Association. The arena is set to host the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup Challenge League B from August 8 to 18, providing Tanzania with its first major international cricket tournament at the new venue.

Speaking on the occasion, ICC Chairman Jay Shah congratulated Cricket Tanzania on the landmark achievement. Sharing his message on social media, he said:

The venue is expected to strengthen grassroots development, attract international events, and could even position Tanzania as a future host for global ICC tournaments, including a Cricket World Cup.
