Taylor Fritz celebrates after defeating Rafael Jódar to win the 2026 Mubadala DC Open ATP title in Washington.

American tennis star Taylor Fritz lifted his first ATP trophy of the 2026 season after defeating Spanish teenager Rafael Jódar 7-6(2), 6-4 in the final of the Mubadala DC Open on Monday.

The victory marked Fritz's maiden title in Washington, D.C., and the 11th ATP singles crown of his career. The world-class American relied on his powerful serve and consistent baseline play to edge a closely contested opening set before dominating the tiebreak 7-2.

Fritz gained the decisive break midway through the second set and held his nerve in a tense closing game, converting his fifth championship point to seal the victory.
The title provides a timely confidence boost for Fritz as the hard-court season gathers momentum ahead of the US Open, while 18-year-old Rafael Jódar impressed throughout the tournament with a breakthrough run to his first ATP Tour final.
