Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid have opened up an eight-point lead at the top of LaLiga after beating Real Sociedad 4-1 at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday night.

Real Madrid surpassed the 400-official-goal mark with Carlo Ancelotti in the dugout (402) against Real Sociedad at the Santiago Bernabéu. This achievement was accomplished after 158 games under the Italian manager’s guidance, whose team averages 2.5 goals per game. Carlo’s side has scored in 90% of its games (142) and the breakdown of goals per competition reads as follows: 278 in LaLiga, 79 in the Champions League, 31 in the Copa del Rey, 6 in the Club World Cup, 6 in the Spanish Super Cup and 2 in the European Super Cup.
Ancelotti becomes the sixth coach in Real Madrid history to reach the figure. Prior to the Italian boss, Miguel Muñoz (1,219), Zidane (592), Del Bosque (490), Mourinho (475), Beenhakker (404) and Molowny (400) had all achieved the milestone.
Mikel Oyarzabal scored a penalty in the 10th minute to give the Real Sociedad hope of a surprise win, but from the 40th minute onwards it was all Real Madrid. Eduardo Camavinga and Luka Modric managed to score before the half-time break, and in the second period Karim Benzema and Marco Asensio made sure of the result.This was the perfect warm-up for Real Madrid ahead of Wednesday night’s match against PSG.

After the match Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti said ,”We played really well from the beginning. The plan was to press up front, to stop Real Sociedad building attacks from the area. It worked. The physical effort was huge, we did well. If we play like this on Wednesday we have a bigger chance of going through.”
