Legendary Singer Bhupinder Singh Passes Away At 82

Legendary singer Bhupinder Singh passed away at the age of 82 in Mumbai, he was ailing for a long time. He was admitted to the hospital for the last 9 days and died late this evening due to a heart attack, says his wife Mithali Singh.
Noted ghazal singer Bhupinder Singh, who had also provided playback to several Hindi film songs, passed away on Monday at the age of 82. The singer was hospitalised at Criticare Hospital in Andheri and he breathed his last this morning at 7:45 pm. He is survived by wife Mitali Singh and son Nihal Singh.

Bhupinder Singh hailed from Amritsar and early on his career he used to perform on All India Radio and was also associated with the Delhi Doordarshan Center. His first song in Bollywood was Hoke Majboor Mujhe Usne Bulaya Hoga from Haqeeqat that had him sing alongside Mohammed Rafi, Talat Mahmood and Manna Dey. He went on to sing many more duets with Rafi ji and Kishore Kumar.
He married his wife Mitali in the mid 1980s after which he took a step back from playback singing. However, the two used to perform on live shows and ghazal events together. Together, they also have several renowned songs to their credit, the most popular of them being Dil Dhoondta Hai, Do Deewane Shaher Mein, Naam Gum Jayega, Meethe Bol Bole, Kabhi Kisi Ko Mukammal, Kisi Nazar Ko Tera Intezaar aaj Bhi and Ek Akela Is Shehar Mein.

PM Modi expressed his condolences on the demise of noted singer Bhupinder Singh,in a tweet he said,”Anguished by the passing away of Shri Bhupinder Singh Ji, who has given memorable songs for decades. His works struck a chord with several people. In this sad hour, my thoughts are with his family and admirers. Om Shanti.”
