Argentine football captain Lionel Messi has received the Doctor Honoris Causa title from the University of Buenos Aires (UBA), adding another prestigious honour to his remarkable career. The recognition was presented on October 6 at the Argentine Football Association’s training complex in Ezeiza, shortly before Messi’s farewell match for the national team.

Messi received the medal and diploma from UBA Rector Ricardo Gelpi and Vice-Rector Emiliano Yacobitti during the ceremony attended by university authorities and representatives of the institution.
