Modrić Makes History With 200th Croatia Appearance
Luka Modric became the first Croatian and only the fourth male footballer to reach 200 international caps, helping them to a crucial 1-0 victory over Panama in their FIFA World Cup Group L clash.

The 40-year-old midfielder reached the landmark in front of 43,036 fans at the Toronto Stadium, 20 years after making his senior debut on June 1, 2006.

Modric joined Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal), Bader Al-Mutawa (Kuwait) and Lionel Messi to earn 200 or more caps.
Modric's team-mates paid tribute to their captain before kick-off against Panama and later celebrated by tossing hin int the air after their win.
Supporters inside Toronto Stadium unfurled banners honouring his extraordinary international career.
"It's incredible to reach 200 matches in the shirt I love the most. I could never have dreamed of something like this. It makes me very proud," Modric said later.
"These were three extremely important points for us. We can only improve from here and hopefully this victory changes our momentum."
Modric's humility and longevity drew praise from Croatia coach Zlatko Dalic.
"Luka is a unique footballer. What he has achieved over two decades is extraordinary, but what makes him special is his character and leadership," Modric said.
