Ronaldo Makes World Cup History as Portugal Thrash Uzbekistan
Cristiano Ronaldo became the first player to score in six different FIFA World Cup editions as his brace inspired Portugal to a 5-0 victory over Uzbekistan in Houston on Tuesday
The 41-year-old silenced critics following a quiet opening draw against DR Congo by becoming the only male footballer to score across six separate tournaments (2006, 2010, 2014, 2018, 2022, 2026).
His double took his tournament total to 10 World Cup goals, above the legendary Eusebio (9 goals) as Portugal's all-time top scorer in the competition.
Cristiano Ronaldo has become the second oldest player to score in a FIFA World Cup at the age of 41 years and 138 days, second only to Roger Milla who was 42 years and 39 days when he scored for Cameroon against Russia in 1994.
The victory helped Portugal move to 4 points and top of Group K, following their draw with DR Congo in their opening game.
