Macron Urges Immediate De-escalation in Middle East, Calls for Moratorium on Civilian Infrastructure Strikes

French President Emmanuel Macron has called for an urgent path toward de-escalation in the Middle East, emphasizing the need to restore regional stability amid rising tensions. In a strong appeal, the French President urged the immediate implementation of a moratorium on strikes targeting civilian infrastructure, particularly facilities linked to water and energy. He stressed that such actions risk deepening humanitarian crises and further destabilizing the region. President Macron also highlighted the importance of safeguarding freedom and security of navigation, a critical factor for global trade and regional economic stability. As the region enters a period marked by religious observances and renewal, Macron underscored the need for restraint from all sides. “Tempers must cool and hostilities must cease,” he said, advocating for conditions that would allow diplomacy to take precedence. The French leader reiterated that only a negotiated and sustainable political solution can ensure long-term peace, calling on international partners to support efforts aimed at dialogue and conflict resolution.
