Mahadev betting case: Sourabh Chandrakar extradited from Oman
Mahadev betting case accused Sourabh Chandrakar has been extradited from Oman to India, the Central Bureau of Investigation said on Sunday, November 1. An agency team escorted him back after Omani authorities approved the extradition process.
The CBI said Chandrakar would undergo a medical examination and be taken to Raipur after a transit remand was obtained. His production before the CBI Special Court there was scheduled for Monday, November 2.

According to the agency, Royal Oman Police traced and detained him following an Interpol Red Corner Notice. The CBI and Enforcement Directorate then sent formal requests seeking his extradition, supported by evidence gathered in their investigations.
The process involved coordination with Indian government agencies, Interpol's National Central Bureau and the relevant authorities in Oman. A CBI team travelled to Muscat to bring him back once extradition was granted.
Chandrakar, who comes from Durg district in Chhattisgarh, is wanted in two CBI cases in which chargesheets have been submitted. He is also accused in a separate ED case that has reached the prosecution-complaint stage.
Investigators describe Mahadev Online Book as an alleged illegal betting operation managed from outside India. They say a network of franchised outlets within the country signed up customers and collected stakes on cricket, football, card games and other events.
The Mahadev betting case investigation also alleges that proceeds passed through mule bank accounts and multiple transactions before being sent overseas through hawala channels. Investigators further allege that some funds were used to pay public servants for protection.
The CBI took over the related cases in 2024. Its chargesheets invoke corruption, conspiracy, cheating, forgery and gambling provisions, while the ED is separately examining alleged money laundering and has attached properties in India and abroad.
The agency acknowledged cooperation from Oman's government and police. The allegations against Chandrakar remain subject to the legal proceedings.
