Maharashtra Drought Situation: Fadnavis Reviews Crisis, Announces Relief Measures

Maharashtra Drought Situation has emerged as a serious concern in several parts of the state, with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis visiting affected agricultural areas to assess the situation alongside farmers. According to Fadnavis, Latur and Dharashiv districts have received only around 50% of their normal rainfall, raising concerns over agriculture, drinking water availability and livestock.

During his visit to the affected areas, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said the government is assessing the drought-like situation directly from the fields and interacting with farmers to understand their immediate requirements.

Speaking about the prevailing conditions, Devendra Fadnavis described the situation as extremely serious. The inadequate rainfall has affected agricultural areas and also raised concerns about water availability for households and livestock.

Fadnavis highlighted the rainfall deficit in Latur and Dharashiv districts, where rainfall has reportedly been around 50% of the normal level. The reduced rainfall has increased concerns among farmers who depend heavily on the monsoon for agricultural activities.

Government Plans Direct Assistance for Farmers

The Chief Minister said the Maharashtra government has decided to provide direct assistance to farmers affected by the crisis. The objective is to help farming communities manage the difficulties caused by inadequate rainfall.
