Mamata Banerjee Offers Prayers at Kalighat Temple Ahead of Poila Boishakh, Extends New Year Wishes to Bengal

On the eve of the Bengali New Year, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee visited the revered Kalighat Kali Temple to seek blessings for the peace, prosperity, and well-being of the people of the state.

Sharing her experience on social media, the Chief Minister expressed deep spiritual connection as she offered prayers to Maa Kali with devotion. She also visited the nearby Nakuleshwar Bhairav Temple and the Jagannath Temple during her pilgrimage.

Reflecting on her personal bond with the temple, Banerjee recalled cherished childhood memories of visiting Kalighat with her mother, stating that the sacred place continues to bring her immense mental peace, just like it does for countless devotees.

Emphasizing the essence of true religion, she highlighted that love for humanity, respect for diverse cultures, and unity beyond caste, creed, and religion form the foundation of Bengal’s rich heritage. She reiterated that there is no greater religion than compassion and harmony among people.

Extending warm greetings on the auspicious occasion of Poila Boishakh, she wished everyone happiness, health, and enlightenment in the coming year.
