Olympic silver medallist Saikhom Mirabai Chanu once again proved why she is one of India's greatest weightlifters, winning the gold medal in the women's 48kg event at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

Mirabai Chanu once again showcased her class at the Commonwealth Games, delivering a stunning Gold in the 48 kg category. The weightlifting queen delivered a phenomenal performance, lifting a Commonwealth Games Record total of 190 kg in the 48 kg category , with an 85 kg Snatch (Commonwealth & Games Record) and a 105 kg Clean & Jerk (Games Record).


The Manipuri star produced a commanding performance at the Scottish Event Campus (SEC), living up to her status as the overwhelming favourite. Displaying exceptional composure and technical precision, Chanu dominated the competition from start to finish to comfortably secure the top spot on the podium.

With this triumph, the 31-year-old completed a remarkable hat-trick of Commonwealth Games titles, having previously won gold at Gold Coast 2018 and Birmingham 2022. The latest victory further cements her legacy as one of the most successful weightlifters in Commonwealth Games history.

Competing once again in the 48kg category—the division in which she became world champion in 2017—Chanu showcased her consistency and world-class ability on the international stage.

Her latest gold also strengthens India's medal campaign at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games and adds another glorious chapter to an already illustrious career.
