In a thrilling all-Indian bronze-medal contest, the 24-year-old archer defeated compatriot and World No. 1 Dhiraj Bommadevara 6–4 to claim a place on the podium.
The victory marked a significant milestone for Neeraj, who became only the second Indian male archer to win an individual recurve medal at the Asian Games, joining Tarundeep Rai, who won silver in Guangzhou in 2010.
Neeraj’s achievement also highlights the contribution of India’s Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS) Development programme, under which the young archer has received support as part of the country’s elite athlete development pathway.
India Completes Recurve Medal Sweep
With Neeraj’s bronze, India won medals in all five recurve categories at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, collecting 2 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze.
India also produced a strong overall performance in archery, with the discipline contributing nine medals — five gold, two silver and two bronze.

The performance continues India’s strong showing in Asian Games archery and represents another notable success for the country’s emerging generation of elite archers.
