The 23-year-old Paris 2024 Olympic bronze medallist showcased remarkable composure under pressure after trailing 6–7 late in the second period. Sehrawat produced a series of crucial takedowns, scoring five unanswered points to turn the bout around and secure a memorable victory.
The triumph carries historic significance for Indian wrestling. Sehrawat becomes the first Indian wrestler to win Asian Games gold in the Men’s 57kg freestyle division, completing a remarkable rise on the international stage.
After winning bronze at the Paris 2024 Olympics and bronze at the Hangzhou Asian Games, Sehrawat has now reached the summit of the continental podium with his maiden Asian Games gold.
