Industrialist and former chairman of Bajaj Group, Rahul Bajaj passed away this afternoon at Pune, Maharashtra. He was 83. According to a statement from Bajaj Group Mr. Bajaj was suffering from pneumonia and cardiac problem. His last rites will be performed on Sunday.
Born on June 10, 1938, Rahul Bajaj acted as the chairman of the Bajaj Group for 50 years. He resigned as the chairman of Bajaj Auto in April last year. He was awarded with Padma Bhushan in 2001 and served as a Rajya Sabha MP also.

Congress Leader Rahul Gandhi expressed his condolence ,he said ,”Rahul Bajaj’s passing is a big loss to India. We have lost a visionary whose courage made us proud.
My love and condolences to his family and loved ones.”
Paying tribute to Rahul Bajaj, Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari said that his death is a great loss. He was a successful entrepreneur and philanthropist who made a big contribution in the progress of country on all the economic front.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee expressed her condolence ,she said ,”Sad that country’s iconic industrialist Rahul Bajaj is no more. He leaves behind a great legacy with far- reaching contributions to the Indian economy.
My deepest condolences to his family, friends, and followers.”
