Pezeshkian Calls for Stronger BRICS Economic Cooperation

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian called for stronger economic cooperation among BRICS nations, saying the grouping must move beyond its collective economic potential toward practical and operational collaboration.

Speaking at the Leaders' Session of the BRICS Business Forum, Pezeshkian said the global economy is facing one of its most complex periods, marked by geopolitical uncertainty, supply-chain disruptions and the growing use of economic measures as instruments of political pressure.

He questioned how BRICS should respond to these emerging challenges and stressed that the bloc's real strength lies not only in the size of its member economies but in its ability to connect their economic capacities.

According to Pezeshkian, BRICS can unlock greater potential by building stronger networks for trade, investment and joint financing.

He emphasized the need for a transition from potential cooperation to operational cooperation, suggesting that closer economic coordination among BRICS members could help strengthen resilience and create new opportunities amid global uncertainty.

The Iranian President's remarks come as BRICS leaders and business representatives gather in New Delhi for discussions on economic cooperation, investment, trade and the future of the grouping.
