Philippines President Marcos Jr Arrives for BRICS Summit

Philippines President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. arrived in New Delhi to attend the 18th BRICS Summit in his capacity as the current Chair of ASEAN. He was received by Minister of State Anupriya Patel upon his arrival.

India and ASEAN share a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, with cooperation focused on key areas including trade, maritime security and regional connectivity in the Indo-Pacific. ASEAN remains an important pillar of India’s Act East policy, with both sides working to strengthen strategic and economic ties.

Marcos Jr.’s participation at the BRICS Summit highlights the growing importance of India-ASEAN engagement and provides an opportunity to advance discussions on regional cooperation, connectivity and development.
