Piyush Goyal Receives UK-India Leadership Honour

Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal was honoured with the Special Award for Exceptional Leadership in Elevating UK-India Relations at the Annual UK-India Awards 2026 held in London.

Sharing the news on social media, Goyal expressed gratitude for the recognition, stating that the honour belongs to the countless bridge-builders across governments, businesses, academia, culture, and the vibrant Indian diaspora who continue to strengthen ties between India and the United Kingdom.

He also congratulated fellow award recipients for their contributions to deepening bilateral cooperation.
Addressing a distinguished gathering of over 300 policymakers and industry leaders, Goyal highlighted the next phase of India-UK relations, emphasizing that the India-UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) will come into effect on July 15, 2026. He noted that it has become the fastest-implemented trade agreement in British parliamentary history.

The Union Minister said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India's rapid economic growth presents unprecedented opportunities for collaboration in trade, innovation, technology, education, and emerging sectors.

Concluding his address, Goyal expressed confidence that the strongest chapter of the India-UK partnership is still ahead, reaffirming both nations' commitment to expanding economic and strategic cooperation.
