Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday marked seven years since the abrogation of Articles 370 and 35A, describing the move as a historic milestone that opened a "new chapter" in the development journey of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.

In a post on social media, the Prime Minister said the constitutional changes introduced on August 5, 2019, have brought wide-ranging transformation to the region. He highlighted improvements in infrastructure and expanded opportunities in education, healthcare, entrepreneurship and sports.

PM Modi also said that the full application of the Constitution of India has empowered women and marginalised communities, who were deprived of several constitutional rights for decades.

The Prime Minister noted that this year's anniversary holds added significance as India commemorates the 125th birth anniversary of Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee, whose vision of national unity, he said, was fulfilled with the abrogation of Articles 370 and 35A.

Reaffirming the government's commitment, PM Modi said the Centre will continue working towards the progress of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, ensuring every citizen has the opportunity to dream big, achieve their aspirations, and contribute to the vision of a Viksit Bharat.
