PM Modi Unveils Ganga-Mahakam Vision in Indonesia
Prime Minister Narendra Modi created history by becoming the first Indian Prime Minister to address the Parliament of Indonesia, marking a significant milestone in the bilateral relationship between the two Indo-Pacific partners.

In his landmark address, Prime Minister Modi highlighted the deep-rooted civilisational links, shared democratic values, and maritime heritage that have connected India and Indonesia for centuries. He emphasized that although New Delhi and Jakarta are separated by thousands of kilometres by land, the sea brings the two nations within just about 150 kilometres, making the ocean a vital bridge for future cooperation.

The Prime Minister unveiled the Ganga-Mahakam Vision, a new framework aimed at strengthening the India-Indonesia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. The initiative seeks to expand collaboration in emerging sectors such as space, maritime technology, digital innovation, defence, trade, and connectivity, aligning with the visions of Viksit Bharat 2047 and Golden Indonesia 2045.

Modi also reaffirmed India's commitment to working closely with Indonesia in promoting a free, open, inclusive, and rules-based Indo-Pacific, while strengthening the collective voice of the Global South.
Highlighting the shared leadership of both nations, the Prime Minister noted that Indonesia's G20 Presidency in 2022 and India's G20 Presidency in 2023 successfully placed the priorities of developing nations at the centre of the global agenda. He expressed confidence that New Delhi and Jakarta would continue collaborating to advance inclusive global growth and regional stability.
