Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a “productive conversation” with Haitham bin Tariq, reaffirming the strong bilateral ties between India and Oman while emphasizing the urgent need for dialogue and diplomacy amid rising regional tensions. In a post on social media, the Prime Minister said he conveyed advance Eid greetings to the people of Oman and described the discussion as constructive and forward-looking. Both leaders agreed on prioritizing diplomatic engagement to ensure de-escalation and the restoration of peace and stability in the region. Modi also reiterated India’s firm condemnation of any violation of Oman’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. He expressed appreciation for Oman’s proactive role in facilitating the safe return of thousands of individuals, including Indian nationals, amid ongoing geopolitical uncertainties. Highlighting a key strategic concern, both sides underscored the importance of ensuring safe and free navigation through the Strait of Hormuz—a critical global energy corridor that remains vital for international trade and security. The conversation comes at a time of heightened tensions in the Middle East, with India continuing to advocate for stability, adherence to international law, and cooperative security frameworks in the region.
