PM Modi Gets Grand Ceremonial Welcome in Jakarta

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was accorded a grand ceremonial welcome at the Istana Merdeka, Indonesia's Presidential Palace, on Tuesday as he began high-level bilateral talks with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto.
Sharing his appreciation on X, Modi wrote, "Thank you for the warm welcome at the Istana Merdeka!" He also signed the official guest book during his meeting with President Subianto at the presidential palace.

The visit marks Prime Minister Modi's first bilateral trip to Indonesia since the elevation of India-Indonesia relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. It follows President Prabowo Subianto's State Visit to India as the Chief Guest for the Republic Day celebrations in January 2025.

External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said the ceremonial reception reflects the strong and growing partnership between the two nations.
"Prime Minister Narendra Modi was accorded a grand ceremonial welcome at the Istana Merdeka, the Presidential Palace in Jakarta," Jaiswal said in a post on X.

He added that the visit represents a significant step in advancing the India–Indonesia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership by creating new opportunities for cooperation across priority sectors while reinforcing the deep trust, shared values, and enduring friendship between the two countries.

Prime Minister Modi arrived in Indonesia on Monday as the first stop of his three-nation tour, which also includes Australia and New Zealand. Ahead of his departure from New Delhi, he said the tour would further strengthen India's Act East Policy, promote the MAHASAGAR (Mutual and Holistic Advancement for Security Across the Regions) Vision, and reinforce India's commitment to a free, open and inclusive Indo-Pacific.

The bilateral discussions are expected to focus on expanding cooperation in trade, investment, maritime security, defence, connectivity, and regional stability, further deepening the strategic partnership between India and Indonesia.
