Modi, Prabowo Strengthen Strategic Partnership

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto held high-level bilateral talks at the Istana Merdeka in Jakarta on Tuesday, reaffirming their commitment to further strengthening the India–Indonesia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

The two leaders reviewed the full spectrum of bilateral cooperation, including trade and investment, defence and security, maritime collaboration, energy, healthcare and pharmaceuticals, space, critical minerals and rare earths, culture, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges.

They also exchanged views on regional and global issues of mutual interest and reiterated their shared commitment to promoting peace, stability, and prosperity across the Indo-Pacific region.

Following the talks, India and Indonesia witnessed the exchange of several key bilateral agreements covering maritime safety and security, space cooperation, defence, steel supply chains, rare earths, healthcare, agriculture, and science and technology.

The agreements are expected to expand cooperation across strategic sectors, enhance economic and security partnerships, and further deepen the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two nations.

Prime Minister Modi's visit to Indonesia is the first leg of his three-nation tour and reflects India's continued focus on strengthening ties with key partners under its Act East Policy and MAHASAGAR (Mutual and Holistic Advancement for Security Across the Regions) Vision. The visit also reinforces India's commitment to a free, open, inclusive, and prosperous Indo-Pacific.
