PM Modi Lands in Jakarta, Welcomed by President Prabowo Subianto

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Jakarta on Monday, where he received a warm welcome from Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto at the airport, marking the beginning of his official visit aimed at deepening bilateral relations between the two nations.

Sharing his arrival on social media, Modi expressed gratitude for the personal welcome extended by President Prabowo, describing it as a touching gesture.

The Prime Minister noted that India and Indonesia elevated their relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2018, a framework that has significantly strengthened cooperation and delivered benefits to the people of both countries.

During the visit, Modi and President Prabowo are expected to hold wide-ranging discussions focused on expanding collaboration across multiple sectors, including trade, investment, connectivity, defence, maritime security, digital innovation, and regional cooperation in the Indo-Pacific.

Highlighting the cultural dimension of the visit, Modi said the two leaders would jointly visit the Prambanan Temple complex in Yogyakarta, underlining the centuries-old civilisational links between India and Indonesia and reinforcing cultural exchanges.

The Prime Minister also said he looks forward to interacting with members of the Indian community in Indonesia, recognising their role in strengthening the longstanding friendship between the two countries.

Modi's visit is expected to inject fresh momentum into the India-Indonesia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership while reaffirming both nations' commitment to a free, open, and inclusive Indo-Pacific region.
