PM Modi: Preventive Healthcare Benefiting Every Family
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for multiple development projects worth over ₹4,700 crore in Chandigarh. The projects span key sectors including healthcare, education and road infrastructure, aimed at strengthening public services and accelerating regional development.
pic.twitter.com/SGPgFhvH7f

Addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister emphasized that the government's healthcare approach extends beyond treating illnesses to promoting preventive healthcare.
"Not only on the treatment of diseases, but we have maintained a continuous focus on Preventive Healthcare as well. Its major benefits are being received by our mothers-sisters, poor brothers-sisters, as well as the middle class," PM Modi said.
Highlighting the achievements of the Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission, the Prime Minister said the initiative has significantly strengthened healthcare delivery across the country.
He noted that around 1.75 lakh Ayushman Arogya Mandirs are now operational nationwide, providing accessible primary healthcare services to millions of citizens.
PM Modi also reiterated the government's commitment to eliminating tuberculosis through the TB-Free India campaign.
"We have resolved to make the country TB-free. Timely TB screenings are being conducted, and patients are being provided with treatment," he said.
The Prime Minister added that TB treatment coverage has now crossed 90% across the country. Referring to a World Health Organization (WHO) report released last year, he said TB infections in India have declined by 21% over the past decade, reflecting the impact of sustained healthcare interventions.
The projects inaugurated and announced in Chandigarh are expected to improve healthcare access, strengthen educational infrastructure and enhance road connectivity, supporting the government's vision of inclusive and sustainable development.
