First Official Decision Taken By Prime Minister After Returning From Ayodhya
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 22 announced the Pradhan Mantri Suryodaya Yojana. Under the scheme, one crore households in the nation will get solar rooftop panels. It was the first official decision of the Prime Minister after getting back from the Shri Ram Lalla Temple consecration ceremony held yesterday at Ayodhya.
“The first decision that I have taken after returning from Ayodhya is that our government will launch ‘Pradhan Mantri Suryodaya Yojana’. We are going with the target of installing rooftop solar panels on one crore houses. This will not only reduce the electricity bill of the poor and middle class, but will also make India self-reliant in the energy sector,” said he.
“All devotees across the world always energy from Suryavanshi Lord Shri Ram’s luminosity. Today, on the auspicious occasion of His consecration in Ayodhya, my resolution further strengthened that people of India should have their very own solar roof top system on their houses,” the Prime Minister posted on social platform X.
He posted photographs of himself with officials discussing the scheme.

- The scheme aims to equip one crore poor to middle-class households with rooftop solar panels to provide electricity from solar energy.
- The scheme is expectes not only reduce the electricity bills of the poor and middle class, but make India self-reliant in the energy sector, as well.
- According to reports, the Prime Minister has urged the officials to start a massive national campaign that will mobilise the residential segment consumers to adopt rooftop solar in large numbers.
- Rooftop solar panels are the photovoltaic panels installed on the roof of a building connected to the main power supply unit. It reduces the consumption of grid-connected electricity in the household, and saves electricity cost for the consumer.
- In a solar rooftop system, consumers need to make only an upfront capital investment. Minimal cost is required for maintenance over the years.
