Paschimbanga Divas: PM Modi Pays Tribute to Bengal’s Legacy

Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended warm greetings to the people of West Bengal on the occasion of Paschimbanga Divas, describing the state as a vital contributor to India's cultural, intellectual, and social progress.

In a message shared on social media, the Prime Minister said West Bengal has played a defining role in shaping India's national consciousness through its achievements in literature, music, art, spirituality, science, trade, commerce, and social reform.

Highlighting the historical significance of June 20, Modi noted that the day marks an important chapter in Bengal's history, ensuring that West Bengal remained an integral part of India. He paid tribute to Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee, whose contribution to this process was, according to the Prime Minister, invaluable. The year 2026 also marks the 125th birth anniversary of Dr. Mookerjee.

The Prime Minister reiterated the Central Government's commitment to working closely with the West Bengal Government to fulfil the aspirations of the state's people and prayed for the continued progress, development, and prosperity of West Bengal.

Modi's message comes as celebrations are being held across the state to commemorate Paschimbanga Divas and recognize Bengal's rich historical and cultural legacy.
