Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised India’s medal-winning athletes from the Commonwealth Games 2026 during an interaction at his official residence, highlighting their contribution to inspiring the country’s younger generation.

Reflecting on his years in office, PM Modi said athletes have been among the groups he has consistently welcomed and met at his residence. He credited their sustained hard work and repeated victories for helping India reach new heights in international sport.

Modi noted that while the government and society could visit schools and speak about the importance of sports and physical activity, the achievements of athletes have a far greater inspirational impact.

According to the Prime Minister, the medals won by Indian athletes serve as a powerful message to young people and encourage them to take up sports.

He also underlined the importance of the athletes’ efforts over the past decade, saying their consistent performances have helped build a tradition of sporting success for India.

The interaction with the Commonwealth Games 2026 medal winners came as the Prime Minister congratulated the athletes for making the country proud through their performances and urged them to continue inspiring the next generation.
