PM Modi praises Indian Women’s Hockey team for winning Commonwealth Games 2022 Bronze

The first Hockey medal of the Games has been awarded and it goes the way of India.

India beat New Zealand in an upset that leaves the reigning champions without a medal. The match ended 1 – 1 before India triumphed 2 – 1 on penalties to seal a place on the podium.

India women’s team beat New Zealand 2-1 in shootout to win a bronze medal after the match ended 1-1 in full time.

India captain and goalkeeper Savita Punia made three saves out of four, as India women’s team beat New Zealand 2-1 in shootout to win a bronze medal in Commonwealth Games 2022.

PM Modi congratulated Indian Women’s Hockey team for winning Bronze at the Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham.

In tweet PM Modi said ,”India has a very special relation with Hockey. Thus, it is certain that every Indian is proud of our exceptional women’s Hockey team for winning a Bronze medal. This is the first time in many years that the women’s team is on the CWG podium. Proud of the team!”
