Prime Minister Narendra Modi held wide-ranging and productive discussions with Austrian Chancellor Christian Stocker during his landmark visit to India, marking a significant step forward in bilateral relations.

Sharing details on social media, PM Modi expressed satisfaction that Chancellor Stocker chose India as his first destination outside Europe after assuming office—calling it a strong reflection of his commitment to strengthening India–Austria ties.

The Prime Minister also highlighted the historic nature of the visit, noting that it is the first by an Austrian Chancellor in over four decades, adding renewed energy and direction to the long-standing partnership between the two nations.
Importantly, the visit comes at a crucial time following the landmark India–EU Free Trade Agreement, which has opened a new chapter in India’s engagement with the European Union. The discussions are expected to enhance cooperation in trade, technology, and global strategic affairs, further aligning India and Austria in an evolving geopolitical landscape.
