PM Modi Urges Youth to Lead Nationwide Digital Census Participation

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday urged the youth of India to take an active role in the ongoing census exercise, stressing that accurate data is essential for effective policymaking and the country’s development.

Addressing the nation from the ramparts of the historic Red Fort on the occasion of India’s 80th Independence Day, Modi said the census is not merely a process of collecting numbers but an important exercise that provides detailed information needed to shape government policies, development plans and the country’s roadmap for progress.

The Prime Minister called upon young Indians to dedicate an hour or two to help their families complete the census process accurately. He said technology now allows citizens to submit their census details digitally using mobile phones, while government officials or representatives will subsequently visit households to verify the information.

Modi urged families to sit together, carefully understand the census form and first fill it out on paper so that spelling mistakes or other errors can be identified and corrected before submitting the details digitally.

He emphasised that the accuracy of information provided by citizens directly contributes to the quality of data available to the government. Better and more reliable census data, he said, can help the nation formulate more effective policies and accelerate its development.

The Prime Minister particularly appealed to the youth to lead the effort by helping their families navigate the digital census process and ensuring that household information is recorded correctly.
