Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the successful International Yoga Day programme held at Kolkata’s iconic Red Road on Sunday, describing it as an inspiring celebration of health, wellness, and community participation.

Sharing his thoughts on social media, the Prime Minister noted that people from all walks of life came together for the event, sending a strong message about the importance of incorporating yoga into daily life.

This year’s International Yoga Day theme, ‘Yoga For Healthy Ageing’, focused on the benefits of yoga for individuals of all ages. The theme highlighted how regular yoga practice can contribute to physical fitness, mental well-being, flexibility, and overall healthy living throughout life.


The large-scale gathering at Red Road showcased Kolkata’s enthusiasm for the ancient Indian practice, with participants performing various yoga asanas and breathing exercises under expert guidance.
Prime Minister Modi reiterated that yoga continues to serve as a powerful tool for achieving holistic health and fostering a healthier society.
