Union Education Minister Pralhad Joshi welcomes West Bengal's PM SHRI Schools MoU and urges faster implementation of PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana.

Union Education Minister Pralhad Joshi has welcomed the West Bengal government's decision to sign the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the PM SHRI Schools scheme, calling it a "welcome and long-awaited step" that will allow students in the state to benefit from the Centre's flagship education initiative.

In a post on social media, Joshi said that students in West Bengal had been unable to avail themselves of the benefits of the visionary scheme introduced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He congratulated West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari for taking what he described as an important decision.

The Union Minister also revealed that during his meeting with the Chief Minister, he informed him about a significant milestone under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, with more than 50 lakh households across India now benefiting from the scheme.

Joshi urged the West Bengal government to accelerate the implementation of the rooftop solar programme in the state so that more families can gain access to clean, affordable solar energy and reduce their electricity expenses.

The PM SHRI Schools initiative aims to transform selected government schools into model institutions aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, while the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana promotes the adoption of rooftop solar systems across Indian households.
