President Droupadi Murmu Marks Akshaya Patra’s Five Billion Meal Milestone, Calls for Collective Responsibility Towards Children

Droupadi Murmu on Tuesday attended a commemorative event celebrating the landmark achievement of five billion meals served by the Akshaya Patra Foundation at the Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Centre. Addressing the gathering, the President underscored the importance of shared societal responsibility in ensuring the well-being and future of children. She stated that building a safe and bright future for the younger generation is not solely the duty of the government, but a collective obligation of every citizen. Emphasising the role of nutrition in nation-building, President Murmu remarked that children are the true architects of the country’s future. She highlighted that the nutritious meals provided today are a critical investment in strengthening India’s human capital and long-term development. The milestone achieved by the Akshaya Patra Foundation stands as a significant contribution towards combating classroom hunger and supporting education through mid-day meal initiatives across the country. The event not only celebrated a remarkable achievement in social service but also reinforced the message that collaborative efforts between government, organisations, and citizens are essential to secure a healthier, more prosperous future for India’s children.
