Senior BJP leader and first-time MLA Rathindra Bose has been nominated as the Bharatiya Janata Party’s candidate for the Speaker’s post in the West Bengal Assembly. The announcement was made on Thursday by Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari inside the Assembly premises.
Rathindra Bose, who represents the Cooch Behar Dakshin constituency, said that if elected as Speaker, he would carry out his constitutional responsibilities with the spirit of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas.”
Speaking to media, Suvendu Adhikari expressed confidence in Bose’s leadership and parliamentary conduct, stating that the BJP has put forward his name for the prestigious constitutional position in the Assembly.
Reacting to the nomination, Bose thanked the party leadership and emphasized his commitment to maintaining dignity, neutrality, and democratic values in the House.
The development comes amid heightened political activity in West Bengal, with both the ruling and opposition parties preparing for key legislative proceedings in the Assembly.
