Sanjay Raut Backs Mamata Banerjee, Slams Centre Over Security Lapses and ‘Selective Deployment’ of Forces

In a sharp political attack on the Central Government, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut has come out in support of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, endorsing her criticism of the Centre’s handling of internal security.

Reacting to Banerjee’s recent remarks, Raut said she was “holding up a mirror” to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

He questioned the government’s security preparedness, referring to past incidents like the Pulwama attack and the recent killings of tourists in Pahalgam. “If there had been proper security in Pahalgam, 26 tourists would not have been killed. In Pulwama too, 40 soldiers would not have lost their lives,” Raut said.

Raut also raised concerns over what he described as the “selective deployment” of security forces. He alleged that while paramilitary forces are heavily deployed during elections, areas facing unrest do not receive adequate attention. Citing the ongoing situation in Manipur, he urged the Centre to prioritize security there.

“The way PM Modi and Amit Shah are touring West Bengal, they should hold rallies in Manipur too. You only go where there are elections,” he added.

The remarks come amid heightened political tensions, with opposition leaders increasingly targeting the Centre over governance and national security issues.
