Pace Fury in Delhi: Hazlewood and Bhuvi Demolish DC as RCB Clinch Dominant 9-Wicket Victory

In a performance that will be remembered as one of the most clinical bowling displays in IPL history, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) annihilated Delhi Capitals (DC) by 9 wickets at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. The victory, achieved on April 27, 2026, saw RCB propel themselves to second place in the standings with a staggering Net Run Rate (NRR) of +1.919.

The Powerplay Carnage

Choosing to bowl first, RCB’s new-ball pair of Josh Hazlewood and Bhuvneshwar Kumar turned the match into a nightmare for the hosts. In a surreal opening spell, DC was reduced to a shocking 8/6 within the first four overs.

Josh Hazlewood led the charge with figures of 4/12, including a ruthless 3.3-over spell that gave the DC batters no room to breathe.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar was equally lethal, finishing with 3/5 in his three overs, swinging the ball under the Delhi lights to trap the top order.

Resistance and Collapse

While Abishek Porel (30 off 33) and David Miller (19 off 18) stitched together a small recovery, the damage was irreversible. The Capitals were eventually bundled out for 75 runs in 16.3 overs—marking the lowest total of the 2026 season so far.

The Chase: Kohli Hits New Milestones

The target of 76 was never going to trouble RCB’s star-studded lineup. Devdutt Padikkal (34)* played the aggressor, while Virat Kohli (23)* reached another career landmark during the chase. The duo wrapped up the game in just 6.3 overs, ensuring the match ended nearly two hours ahead of schedule.

Result: RCB won by 9 wickets.
Player of the Match: Josh Hazlewood.
