Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah submitted his resignation today at Lok Bhavan, formally handing over his resignation letter to the Secretary in the absence of the Governor.

Speaking to media persons after submitting his resignation, Siddaramaiah confirmed that he had requested the Governor to invite the next Chief Minister designate to form the government.

He stated that the ruling government continues to enjoy an absolute majority in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly, with the support of more than 136 MLAs.
Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot, who is currently out of the state, is expected to return later tonight to take further constitutional steps regarding the transition of leadership.

The political development has triggered intense discussions across Karnataka, with party leaders and supporters awaiting the announcement of the next Chief Minister.
