SIR 2026 BLO Honorarium: EC Allocates ₹38.87 Crore in West Bengal

SIR 2026 BLO Honorarium has received a major financial allocation in West Bengal, with the Election Commission sanctioning nearly ₹38.88 crore for honorariums to Booth Level Officers (BLOs) engaged in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2026 exercise.

According to a directive issued by the office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), West Bengal, a total of ₹38 crore 87 lakh 85 thousand has been sanctioned for payment of honorariums to eligible BLOs carrying out SIR-related work.

Under the directive, each eligible BLO will receive an honorarium of ₹5,000 for completing the assigned SIR-related responsibilities.

EC Sanctions ₹38.87 Crore for SIR 2026 BLOs

The allocation for SIR 2026 BLO Honorarium is intended specifically for Booth Level Officers involved in the Special Intensive Revision exercise.

The directive sets out the amount sanctioned for the honorarium and provides instructions to district-level election authorities regarding the release and utilisation of the funds.

The allocation is aimed at ensuring that eligible BLOs receive the prescribed payment after satisfactorily completing their assigned SIR-related duties.

Each Eligible BLO to Receive ₹5,000

As per the directive, an eligible BLO will receive an honorarium of ₹5,000 for undertaking the work associated with SIR 2026.

However, the payment has been clearly restricted to eligible BLOs under the specified arrangement.

The order states that the ₹5,000 honorarium will not be applicable to additional BLOs. Only one BLO per polling station or booth will be entitled to the honorarium.

Payment Rules for SIR 2026 BLO Honorarium

The directive also lays down conditions for the release of the SIR 2026 BLO Honorarium.

The payment is to be made only after the assigned work has been completed satisfactorily. This means that the sanctioned funds are linked to the successful completion of the responsibilities entrusted to the eligible BLOs.

Following the disbursement, the concerned authorities are required to submit the necessary Utilization Certificate (UC) to the CEO's office.

Funds to Be Used Only for BLO Honorarium

The directive specifies that the sanctioned amount must be used strictly for the purpose for which it has been allocated.

The funds are meant for payment of honorariums to eligible BLOs involved in the SIR 2026 exercise.

District authorities are required to ensure that the sanctioned amount is utilised accordingly.

This provision establishes a specific purpose for the funds and provides a mechanism for reporting their utilisation.

DEOs Directed to Release Funds Immediately

District Election Officers (DEOs) have been instructed to release the sanctioned funds immediately.

The directive also requires the DEOs to submit a compliance report through the UC (Utilization Certificate) portal.
