Yamal and Oyarzabal Inspire Spain's 4-0 Victory

Lamine Yamal was on target on his World Cup debut as Spain dismantled Saudi Arabia 4-0 in their Group H FIFA World Cup 2026 match at the Atlanta Stadium in Georgia.

18-year-old star Yamal was a substitute in their shock 0-0 draw with Cape Verde as he was not entirely fit for 90 minutes dur to an injury.

But on Saturday, he scored within 10 minutes of kick-off sliding in to Mikel Oyarzabal's grounded cross.

Lamine Yamal is only the second player aged 18 or younger to score the opening goal in a FIFA World Cup match — the first was a 17-year-old Pelé for Brazil vs Wales in 1958.

Oyarzabal then scored twice within the space of three minutes (21 and 24) from close range as Spain unwrapped Saudi's defence with slick passing and speed movement.

Spain enjoyed 65% of ball possession and such was the force of their attacks that Marc Cucurella's volley got deflected into Saudi's net by their defender Hassan Altambakti (49').

The game had seized to be a contrat by then, and Spain used the remaining time to try out their substitutes, one of then Ferran Torres thought he had added a fifth goal in the 92nd minute after a fluid team combination, but a VAR check ruled the goal out for offside.

Spain now have four points from two matches while Saudi remained ona point courtesy of their 1-1 draw with Uruguay in their opening game.
