SRH Ends Rajasthan Royals' Unbeaten Streak: Praful Hinge’s Dream Debut Rattles RR in Hyderabad

The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) delivered a clinical performance at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Monday night, handing the Rajasthan Royals (RR) their first defeat of the IPL 2026 season. Behind a dominant batting display and a sensational debut spell from young pacer Praful Hinge, SRH secured a commanding 57-run victory, defending a massive total of 216/6. The Batting Blitz: Kishan and Head Set the Tone Winning the toss and opting to bowl first backfired for the Royals as SRH’s openers came out with intent. Ishan Kishan was the architect of the innings, playing a polished and journalistic masterclass of power hitting. Kishan’s 91 off 52 balls included eight towering sixes, narrowly missing out on a well-deserved century. Partnering with the ever-aggressive Travis Head, the duo dismantled the RR powerplay. By the time the middle order took over, the foundation for a 200-plus score was firmly laid. Despite a late fightback from the RR bowlers to pull back the scoring rate in the final two overs, SRH finished at a formidable 216/6. The Turning Point: Hinge’s Triple-Strike Over The Rajasthan Royals’ chase began with optimism, but it was quickly extinguished by SRH debutant Praful Hinge. In a "bolt from the blue" performance, Hinge was introduced in the third over and produced a spell that will be etched in IPL folklore. He claimed three wickets in his very first over, removing RR's top-order anchors and leaving the visitors reeling at 24/3. Hinge’s ability to find swing and extra bounce on the Hyderabad surface proved too much for the Royals'stalwarts RR’s Resilience: The Jadeja-Ferreira Stand Facing an uphill battle, Ravindra Jadeja and Donovan Ferreira provided the only significant resistance for the Royals. The pair stitched together a brilliant 118-run partnership, keeping the required run rate within reach for a brief window. Jadeja played the role of the stabilizer while Ferreira took the attack to the SRH spinners. However, once the partnership was broken by a sharp catch in the deep, the RR tail collapsed under the pressure of the mounting run rate. The Royals were eventually bundled out for 159 in the 19th over. Match Impact While Rajasthan Royals remain at the top of the points table, this defeat exposes vulnerabilities in their top-order depth when chasing massive totals. For SRH, this win catapults them back into the playoff conversation, fueled by the emergence of a new bowling star in Praful Hinge and he is also named Player of the Match.
