West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari said the state government is ready to extend full cooperation to strengthen defence-sector investments, recruitment and manufacturing in Bengal.

Speaking about his discussions with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Adhikari said that after assuming office as Chief Minister, he had met Singh and sought his blessings. He said he had raised several issues concerning Bengal and received an assurance that expectations related to defence-sector investments and recruitment would be addressed.

Adhikari highlighted Singh’s visit to Bengal to perform the bhumi pujan for five defence-related expansion projects worth around β‚Ή3,400 crore, describing the investment as significant for the state.

The Chief Minister said the Union Defence Minister had also assured continued support for Bengal’s development in the defence sector.

Adhikari further pointed out that the state has already introduced 20% reservation for Agniveers in recruitment to the police, fire brigade, forest department and civil defence services.

He also assured potential defence manufacturers that the state government would facilitate land requirements for major projects.

β€œIf any major defence manufacturing unit is to be set up, there will be no issues regarding land,” Adhikari said, stressing that the Bengal government is prepared to provide full cooperation.

The Chief Minister’s remarks underline the state government’s push to attract large-scale defence manufacturing, investment and employment opportunities while strengthening Bengal’s role in India’s defence industrial ecosystem.
