Suvendu Adhikari Meets Nirmala Sitharaman Over Tea and Textile Workers

Suvendu Adhikari met Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and discussed issues concerning workers in West Bengal’s tea gardens and textile sector. The meeting focused on two specific areas that the Union Finance Minister also expressed interest in, according to the Chief Minister.
Speaking after the meeting, Suvendu Adhikari said the discussions were positive and covered matters related to tea garden workers and workers employed in the textile industry.

Suvendu Adhikari Discusses Tea Garden Workers

One of the key issues discussed during the meeting was the welfare and concerns of tea garden workers.
West Bengal has a significant tea-growing sector, particularly in northern parts of the state. The industry provides employment to a large number of workers and plays an important role in the regional economy.

According to Suvendu Adhikari, the Union Finance Minister showed interest in the concerns raised during the discussion. The Chief Minister indicated that the issue would require further engagement between the state and Centre.

Textile Workers Also Feature in Discussion

Suvendu Adhikari also referred to discussions involving the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI). He suggested that further meetings could be arranged with relevant institutions if additional discussions are required.

According to the Chief Minister, the current engagement represents only an initial step and there is still considerable work to be done.

“This is just the first glimpse; there is still a lot left,” Adhikari said.

The statement suggests that the state government may continue discussions with central institutions and other stakeholders to address the issues raised during the meeting.

Focus on Workers and Economic Support

The discussions come against the backdrop of efforts to address employment and economic concerns in key sectors of West Bengal.
Tea gardens and textile units support large communities of workers, making policy support and financial interventions important areas for both state and central governments.
