Suvendu Adhikari Pushes Industry, Jobs and Investment in Bengal
West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari has highlighted industrial investment, job creation and infrastructure development as key priorities for the state, saying that government employment alone cannot meet the aspirations of the people.
Addressing a gathering, Adhikari invited people to New Town for the groundbreaking ceremony of the βAdani Arogya Mandirβ, scheduled for 11:00 AM on Thursday.
The Chief Minister also said he had recently met Mukesh Ambani and Anant Ambani, who, according to Adhikari, assured him of investments in West Bengal across four or five sectors. He said a large team would be sent to Bengal to explore initiatives aimed at the stateβs development.
Focus on Industry and Employment
Adhikari said expanding the industrial base is essential for generating employment and strengthening the stateβs finances.
βGovernment jobs alone won't suffice; jobs will come if industries are established,β Adhikari said.
He pointed to the stateβs financial challenges, including what he described as a debt burden of βΉ8 lakh crore, and said greater revenue generation would be necessary to improve public infrastructure and services.
According to the Chief Minister, industrial development can create a wider economic ecosystem involving warehouses, ancillary industries, infrastructure and improved connectivity.
Healthcare and Education Infrastructure
Adhikari also highlighted the need for greater investment in public infrastructure. He said some hospitals still lack adequate buildings and modern equipment, while educational institutions require facilities such as smart classrooms.
He argued that stronger industrial activity and the resulting revenue generation could provide additional resources for improving healthcare, education and other public services.
New Airports and Connectivity
The Chief Minister further said the state was working on developing five or six new airports under the UDAN scheme, linking industrial growth with improved connectivity.
Adhikari's remarks underline the state government's stated focus on attracting private investment, expanding infrastructure and creating employment opportunities through industrial development.
