Suvendu Adhikari Reacts to ₹1 Crore Cash Seizure at TMC Office
West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari has reacted sharply to the recovery of ₹1 crore in cash from a Trinamool Congress (TMC) office in Sarisha, under the Diamond Harbour block in South 24 Parganas district.
Commenting on the cash recovery, Adhikari alleged that the money belonged to the nephew, in an apparent reference to TMC leader Abhishek Banerjee. Dismissing the seized amount as insignificant, he remarked that it was not even equivalent to what the nephew earns in an hour.
"This is money of the 'bhatija' (nephew). This is just a small amount. It has been six months since the formation of a new government. Maybe this money was outside their list, as it is just a small amount for them," Adhikari said.
He further alleged that the nephew's associates earned such amounts in a single day and asserted that appropriate action would be taken in accordance with the law.
Emphasising the capabilities of the state police, the Chief Minister said, "There is law. West Bengal Police is very capable and is working."
The cash recovery has triggered fresh political controversy in West Bengal, with the Chief Minister making serious allegations against the TMC leadership. Further developments and official findings in the case are awaited.
