Rajnath Singh Stresses Global Maritime Security and Resilience
Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has emphasised the growing importance of maritime security and resilience in safeguarding the global order, highlighting the critical role of oceans in sustaining international trade, energy supplies and digital connectivity.
The security of the global order is increasingly linked to the resilience of the maritime domain. From global trade and energy supplies to digital connectivity, the world depends on the oceans. In a message shared on social media, Singh said that the security of the global order is increasingly interconnected with the resilience of the maritime domain. He underlined that the world's dependence on oceans extends beyond traditional maritime trade to include vital energy supply chains and digital infrastructure.
The Defence Minister cautioned that disruptions to maritime routes and threats to freedom of navigation could undermine global stability. He stressed the need to strengthen maritime resilience to ensure the uninterrupted movement of goods, energy and essential services across international waters.
Emphasising the importance of global cooperation, Singh maintained that retreating from globalisation is not the solution to emerging maritime challenges. Instead, strengthening maritime security, protecting critical sea routes and building resilience in the maritime domain are essential for safeguarding shared global interests.
His remarks underline India's continued emphasis on a secure, stable and rules-based maritime order, recognising the strategic importance of the oceans to global economic prosperity and international security.
