In a dramatic political surge, actor-turned-politician Vijay is on the brink of making history as his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), emerges as the frontrunner in the Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections 2026.
According to the latest trends released by the Election Commission, TVK is currently leading in 108 seats, putting it within touching distance of the 117-seat majority mark in the 234-member Assembly. In its very first electoral outing, the party is set to become the single-largest political force in the state.
The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) is in second place with 63 leads, while the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, led by Chief Minister M. K. Stalin, is trailing with 41 seats.
The trends indicate a major shift in Tamil Nadu’s political landscape, traditionally dominated by the DMK and AIADMK. Vijay’s rapid rise reflects strong voter support across key constituencies, especially among younger voters, marking a potential turning point in the state’s politics.
As counting continues, the focus now shifts to whether TVK can secure a clear majority on its own or will need support to form the government.
